What is a neurologist?

A neurologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These disorders include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, epilepsy, neuropathy, brain or spine tumors and headaches.

What are the most common diseases that you treat?

Dr. Pao is a general neurologist who focuses on neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. She has spent the last 20 years treating Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. She specializes in neuromuscular diseases which include myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy, motor neuron disease and myopathy. She is board certified in Neurology and EMG.

What is Concierge Medicine?

Concierge medicine is an innovative model of medicine that focuses on patient care, patient doctor relationship, and the highest level of healthcare service. The approach to the patient is centered on access, communication, diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan.

What is a Concierge Neurologist?

A concierge neurologist specializes in caring for your neurological condition. A concierge neurologist is best for a patient with a chronic neurological condition, or an individual that wishes to have specialized care. You will still need a primary care physician to oversee your general health. Dr. Pao will coordinate your care with your PCP.

What do I need to bring to an appointment?

You should always bring your insurance card and proof of identity to every doctor’s appointment. You should also bring lab work and imaging reports with a copy of the images on a CD or film. Previous medical records are very helpful in your consultation.

How long will a consultation take?

You should set aside an hour for a consultation with Dr. Pao. It may take longer depending on the complexity of your health. If it is a follow up visit, please set aside 15 minutes for the visit. Please note Dr. Pao spends time with her patients and may run behind according to their complex issues.
